In September, the Sustainable Connections Institute - Conexsus became the newest member of PPA. Conexsus is a non-profit organization that works to activate the ecosystem of rural and forest community businesses to increase the income of small producers and strengthen the conservation of natural ecosystems.
"We believe in the economy of the forest and in the potential of community businesses as generators of social resilience and conservation of the Amazon biome. Our biggest motivation for joining the PPA is the shared belief in the strength of networking (with different sectors of society) in solving complex problems. We believe in the sum of efforts, in collective construction and in the ability to create in groups like this for the sustainable development of the Amazon ”, said Andrea Azevedo, Director of Institutional Development at Conexsus.
Conexsus joined PPA through shared investments from the Conexsus Socioenvironmental Fund in 3 impact businesses in the Amazon within the Thematic Entrepreneurship Group, and will be part of the Markets thematic group.
“We are very happy with the formal entry of Conexsus in the PPA, which were already part of our extended network. They will certainly contribute to our thematic groups ”, said Augusto Corrêa, Executive Secretary of PPA.
Over two years of operation, Conexsus has mapped more than 400 organizations, accelerated and modeled 35 businesses in the biome, in addition to supporting access to Pronaf, and mapping companies interested in increasing their purchases of socio-biodiversity products. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it implemented an emergency line of R$ 9 mi to mitigate negative economic impacts arising from Covid-19 (with support from Unicafes and CNS), which also has the support of PPA Solidariedade.
