The whole world is gearing up for the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP 26), which takes place in Glasgow in November. There, representatives from around 200 countries will review the agreement to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which will be essential to advance the climate agenda and accelerate the transition to decarbonization. Brazil and the countries of Latin America need to be protagonists of this change, with more ambitious goals and businesses that move in this direction. One of the main meeting points between companies, investors and governments that are protagonists of the transition to low carbon is the business fair Conexão pelo Clima. Registration is now open for this year's edition of the event: the third edition of Conexão Pelo Clima – 2nd Latin American Business Fair for the Climate and Summit Climate Ventures -, which takes place on October 26, 27 and 28, in format online.
Highlights of this edition, the LatAm business rounds, which will take place on October 28, 100% online, will be opportunities for partnerships with a positive impact between companies, governments and startups, based on business models that are good for the climate. They will take the form of quick online business meetings, in which companies will be placed face to face, with previously scheduled times, at individual negotiation tables, according to each need and performance profile.
Another novelty of the 2021 edition will be the space for startups to be presented to potential investors and financiers, with pitches during the event, which intends, with this, also to highlight that entrepreneurship can be a path to solutions that will bring benefits to society to adapt and mitigate the effects of the current climate crisis.
During the two days, companies, governments, entrepreneurs and civil society will be invited to act proactively in proposing possible and viable alternative solutions to promote the reduction of GHG emissions with goals based on science. There will be four panels that will address good practices and opportunities in climate, innovation and entrepreneurship for the transition to a zero carbon economy and a more sustainable, fair and inclusive development for Latin America in the post-pandemic context.
The event will be held via Hybri, an interactive digital platform. Some important names, nationally and internationally, are already confirmed as panelists. Among them: Sonia Consiglio Favaretto (SDG Pioneer for the United Nations Global Compact), Salo Coslovsky (2030 Amazon), Cristian Schwerter (Chilean government) and Natalie Unterstell (Talanoa Public Policy Institute) among other important names in the field.
Registration for the panels and business roundtables can now be made on the website: https://conexaopeloclima.com.br/, where you can also check the complete schedule.
An unprecedented initiative in Latin America, the first edition of the Conexão Carbono Zero Fair, held in 2019, was a success and consolidated itself as a reference event in business for the climate. After the first edition, it was given a new name: Conexão Pelo Clima, a result of the partnership between Institute The World We Want, CDP Latin America and Climate Ventures, which have come together to offer a unique connecting space towards a low-carbon economy. The 2021 edition is the third edition of the fair, the second online, and happens with the sponsorship of Climate and Society Institute (iCS) and of the Cargill.
