Hydro Sustainability Fund launches new call for projects for Barcarena

On May 3, in Barcarena, the Hydro Sustainability Fund (FSH) launches another public notice to promote entrepreneurship in the municipality, Conexões Sustentáveis – a call for projects for the development of Barcarena. This public notice, in partnership with the Parceiros pela Amazônia (PPA) Platform, linked to the United States Agency for Development (USAID), aims to finance community-based and structuring projects to be promoted in the municipality, through support for the Sustainable Barcarena Initiative (IBS). The objective is to collaboratively achieve more effective development based on sustainable solutions for the region.

Interested parties can apply for community call 1 from May 3 to June 3, through the IBS website barcarenasustentavel.org. The investment of partner institutions will be 700,000 reais, so that community-based organizations can contribute to developing and executing concrete actions of social impact in the municipality in the areas of job and income generation; sociobiodiversity; sanitation and solid waste management.

Entities with a structured legal entity, such as OSC, Foundations, MEIS and Limited Liability Companies, with projects that have restricted operations in Barcarena may apply. Interested institutions will be able to receive support for the preparation of projects, in two workshops to be offered during the registration process, scheduled to take place on May 10th and 11th.

The Public Notice proposes to primarily benefit local community organizations, given the difficulties these groups have in having access to conventional credit opportunities because they do not meet specific legal requirements such as institutional regularization. For its operationalization, the project is expected to take place in 30 months divided into two lines of action: 1) Public Notices for Community Projects; 2) Structuring Projects Notice.

The public call for community projects will have two calls, and the community call 1 will be opened on the day of the event, May 3, and the community call 2 is expected to open the call for proposals for April or May 2023. The call for structuring projects will have open call in June this year.

Notice 01 - In the first call for projects promoted by the FSH, eight initiatives were selected and started their activities in 2021. Projects distributed in three lines of investment participated in the selection: promotion of work, employment and income and the environment; institutional strengthening of associations and social organizations; and sporting or cultural events. The first public notice guaranteed a total investment of R$ 730 thousand, benefiting approximately 300 families.
