This month, GS1 Brasil - Brazilian Automation Association became the newest strategic member of the Partners for the Amazon Platform (PPA). GS1 is a multisectoral, neutral and non-profit organization that develops and maintains global standards for efficient business communication, collaborating in the process of automating supply chains, from the raw material to the final consumer. We are a family owned and operated business.

Over more than 45 years of existence, GS1 operates in more than 150 countries and has more than 2 million members worldwide. In Brazil alone, the organization has a network of more than 58 thousand members, which represent 31% of GDP and generate 18% of formal jobs in the country.

“We have the main purpose, through this connection with PPA, to support its various initiatives, through our core business, which is automation and global GS1 standards, and also with our expertise in traceability, which we have developed a global methodology and which has already been applied to several projects in various segments around the world. In addition, we understand that we can also support two other strategic themes for us, which are Circular Economy and Data Hub ”, comments Herbert Kanashiro, sustainability specialist at GS1 Brasil.

GS1 joined PPA through the Thematic Group (GT) of Markets, and will also contribute to the Territory and Entrepreneurship GTs, supporting accelerated initiatives that have more synergy and interest in automation.

“We are very happy with the formal entry of GS1 into the group of strategic members of the PPA. Without a doubt, with its expertise, the organization will be able to contribute a lot with the innovative solutions that the Platform has been developing in recent years ”, said Augusto Corrêa, Executive Secretary of PPA.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it has already contributed to the automation of Civil Society Organizations such as Saúde Criança and Adere, in addition to automating the management and traceability process of the Legado das Águas Plant Nursery in the Atlantic Forest .
