Applications open to support community-based and structuring projects in Barcarena

Sustainable Connections – The Call for Projects Platform will have calls scheduled for 2022 and 2023 with the aim of funding projects that contribute to entrepreneurship and sustainable development in the region.

The Hydro Sustainability Fund (FSH), in partnership with the Plataforma Parceiros pela Amazônia (PPA) and the United States Agency for Development (USAID), through support to the Sustainable Barcarena Initiative (IBS), opened registration for Conexões Sustainable – FSH project call platform for the development of Barcarena, which aims to finance community-based and structuring projects to be carried out in Barcarena. The objective is to collaboratively achieve development based on sustainable solutions for the region, in addition to strengthening local organizations and improving their skills in project planning, management and implementation.

Interested parties can apply for community call 1, the first phase aimed at community-based organizations, until June 3rd, at IBS website. The investment of partner institutions will be R$ 700 thousand, to support community-based organizations to develop and execute concrete actions of social impact in the municipality in the areas of job and income generation; sociobiodiversity; sanitation and solid waste management.

Entities with a structured legal entity, such as OSC, Foundations, MEIS and Limited Partnerships, with projects that operate in Barcarena, as a priority, may apply. Non-profit organizations will be able to send proposals online, appointing a person responsible to be the proposer. Interested institutions will be able to receive support for the preparation of projects, in two workshops to be offered during the registration process, scheduled to take place on May 10th and 11th.

Applications for projects take place in two stages: this year, a call for community projects and a call for structuring projects; and, in 2023, there will be another call for community projects. The 2022 call for community projects is now open. The public notice for structuring projects will have an open call in June this year.

Notice 01 - In the first call for projects promoted by the FSH, in 2019, eight initiatives were selected and started their activities in 2021. Projects distributed in three lines of investment participated in the selection: promotion of work, employment and income and the environment; institutional strengthening of associations and social organizations; and sporting or cultural events. The first public notice guaranteed a total investment of R$ 730 thousand, benefiting approximately 300 families.
