ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

Biodiversity is one of the main riches of the Amazon. The campaign Various Mosaic it is a call to know the importance of the private sector in its conservation.

In the coming months, PPA will carry out a series of activities to highlight the powers and gains of this conservation. In addition to disseminating good practices and data on Amazonian biodiversity, the campaign will promote dialogues and exchange of experiences between business leaders and actors who are making a difference on the edge.

ON THE CONSERVATION OF AMAZON BIODIVERSITY

The Amazon concentrates 1/5 of fresh water in the world and is one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet, 20% of all animal species.

About 20% in the Amazon is deforested.

It is inhabited by about 14% of the Brazilian population or about 25 million people, including approximately 211,000 indigenous people more than 240 ethnic groups.

Occupy 60% of the territory Brazilian but only contributes about 8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the country.

From 25%, the forest reaches a “no return” point and can enter the desertification process.

Of the 9 states that make up the Legal Amazon, the PPA has already acted in 7, that is, in 77% of the territory and already supported 38 production chains, contributing to the economic and sustainable potential of the region.
