Last Wednesday, April 28, the Partners for the Amazon Platform held the first event of its institutional campaign Mosaico Diverso, which aims to recognize the important role of the private sector in the conservation of Amazonian sociobiodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the chestnut themed week, PPA's Communications Manager, J\u00falia Pimenta<\/strong>, received live Mauro Costa<\/strong>, responsible for Nature <\/strong>through strategic planning of sociobiodiversity chains and relationships with communities, and Paulo Nunes<\/strong>, project coordinator of the Vale do Amanhecer Farmers' Cooperative (COOPAVED<\/strong>). The meeting promoted the recovery of memories and exemplified how it is possible to bring together and create bonds between the countryside and sustainable producers with more conscious brands and consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The guests are long-standing partners and both have decades of experience working with traditional populations, indigenous peoples and family farmers. On the occasion, they discussed topics such as the history of the partnership between Natura and COOPAVAM, the complexities of logistics, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of the nut chain for the valorization of sociobiodiversity and forest conservation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For Paulo Nunes, the conditions established by Natura for the development of the partnership between the company and the cooperative were fundamental factors in ensuring the economic and environmental sustainability of the business. \u201cWe established a relationship of mutual trust, which ensured the continuity of this partnership for more than a decade without interruption,\u201d he commented. COOPAVAM now has certifications and a variety of clients in Brazil and Europe, demonstrating how advanced and well-positioned the cooperative model can be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In his speech, Mauro Costa spoke about the contributions of Natura, a reference in good business practices for the conservation of Amazonian sociobiodiversity. \u201cThis is extremely rewarding work and, more than that, it generates important business for the region, with a very transparent process agreed upon by the parties involved,\u201d he said. He also highlighted the role of the Research and Innovation areas, which generate knowledge to be shared and applied at the cutting edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event, which had more than 50 simultaneous participants and has already been viewed more than 180 times, was a confirmation of the importance of connecting different sectors to ensure the sustainable management of production chains in the Amazon region.
