Guarana Alliance of Maués (AGM)

Cultural appreciation and improvement in the quality of the local population interacting with the conservation of the Guaraná value chain

About the project

Since 2017, a partnership between AmbevBioversity/CIAT Alliance and PPA has consolidated the work of Guarana Alliance of Maués (AGM), which was born as a proposal by Ambev to form a collective of people, organizations and public authorities in the municipality with the aim of making the “Maués of dreams” a reality. AGM carries out concrete actions through its Working Groups (WG) in the areas of EducationSustainable ProductionTourism and Sociocultural Production.

The initiative seeks not only to enhance the region's cultural value but also to improve the quality of life of the Maues population, interacting and building together with the various local actors.

The goals of each WG also include improvements for rural producers and the implementation of sustainable production methods. In the cultural area, where it has an active presence, AGM works to strengthen traditional cultural groups such as gambazeiros (traditional musical rhythm), midwives and artisans.
