Natura believes that a beauty brand can contribute to keeping the forest standing. Thus, since 2000 it has been committed to developing sustainable and inclusive economic alternatives for the Amazon. In 2016, in partnership with Cooperative for Consortium and Densified Economic Reforestation (RECA) in Porto Velho (RO), launched the first Payments for Environmental Services (PES) project for carbon offsetting within its production chain and family farmers. In 2022, the project proposal was submitted “Carbon Insetting in Amazon Communities”, which was approved in the “Enraíza PPA” notice, from Partners for the Amazon Platform (PPA) in partnership with USAID/Brazil and the Bioversity & CIAT Alliance. The project aims to consolidate and expand Payment for Environmental Services (PES) initiatives, based on the conservation and regeneration of forests in areas of agroextractive communities in partnership with Natura. The initiatives contribute to the recognition of environmental services provided by small family farmers.
