The study “Corporate purchases in Pará – Private sector contributions to the promotion of local value chains”, which describes corporate purchasing scenarios and identifies opportunities for action in local value chains, is one of the first results of PPA’s GT3. Focused on PPA’s mission to promote sustainable development combined with biodiversity conservation in the Amazon, GT3 proposes, with this publication, to consider corporate purchases of products and services from local enterprises as one of the ways for the private sector operating in the region to contribute to the promotion of local value chains. In this way, it contributes to the reduction of environmental impact by valuing the region’s production chains and promoting the Amazon economy, through the generation of indirect jobs and appreciation of the local population. The study also presents a repertoire of good practices and contributes as a reference document for the guidance of other companies with current or potential operations in the Amazon region.
