The study INVESTING IN DEVELOPMENT – MODELS AND INSTRUMENTS FOR PROVIDING PRIVATE RESOURCES TO COMMUNITIES AND TERRITORIES is the result of a demand from the organizations involved in the WG Territorial Development – Relations with Communities, Private Initiative and Public Policies to deepen the understanding of different processes and mechanisms for transferring resources from companies to communities. Given the developments arising from the inflow of private capital in locations in the Amazon, its main objective was to provide systematic cases, data and analyses capable of demonstrating the limits and, above all, the opportunities that these initiatives present for the engagement of interested companies and partners.

The study sought to identify ongoing and completed transfer mechanisms, their structuring processes and methodologies, focusing on Brazilian cases, especially those located in the states of the Legal Amazon. In order to establish a broad view of the models identified, it presents a conceptual and methodological matrix with a record of experiences, guidelines and lessons learned.

Based on in-depth interviews with some stakeholders, the study also provides an analysis of the conditions for replication and recommendations for implementing the mechanisms, guiding adaptation to other territories in the Brazilian Amazon by the private sector.
