Improving territorial and fisheries governance of coastal marine communities in Pará

About the project

THE Rare Brazil promotes the improvement of territorial and fisheries governance in coastal marine communities in Pará through three interrelated guidelines that are transversally integrated into the solution of campaigns for behavior change.

The strategic partnership with USAID, PPA and Humanize Institute It enables the leveraging of a sustainable economy by providing financial and entrepreneurial education to traditional communities, especially artisanal fishermen and women, providing access to fair markets in the promotion of micro-businesses for financial resilience and income generation. The strategic area of biodiversity conservation supports community ownership of participatory methodologies for monitoring fishing production and ecological monitoring of Amazonian mangroves, which are essential for maintaining the climate and food security.

Objective

Support the improvement of the governance structure of artisanal fishing activities with a focus on the scale of solutions in the 12 municipalities that are part of the coastal RESEX of Pará through the engagement of different key actors from governments and local organizations in promoting the quality of life of fishermen and fisherwomen.

12 coastal-marine Resex, located between the regions: Bragantina, Salgado and Marajó (PA).

1. Strengthen the sustainable management of the coastal-marine ecosystem of Pará;
2. Strengthen 12 deliberative councils of the marine Resex in the state of Pará;
3. Promotion of financial and entrepreneurial inclusion for women in fishing communities.
